Invisalign treatment has revolutionized teeth straightening with clear, removable aligner trays that can get the same results as braces with fewer appointments and less risk for cavities. In many cases, treatment with Invisalign takes less time than traditional braces, and you can go about your day without worrying about people noticing metal brackets and wires in your mouth. The dentists at TriBeCa Dental Associates in New York, NY, offer orthodontic evaluations and treatment for patients in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Our office is fitted with a 3D printer so you can get your aligner trays faster and save money on the middleman.

How Invisalign can help

Crooked teeth, dental crowding, and bite issues can contribute to various problems for your oral health, including tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ dysfunction, and airway issues. Invisalign can correct these issues for kids and adults using a series of aligner trays to guide them into the optimum position. The initial treatment can take anywhere between 6-18 months, and through the use of a retainer, you can maintain your results for years to come.

During the initial Invisalign consultation, your dentist will evaluate your teeth and jaw for crowding, crooked teeth, and bite problems. Most issues can be corrected using Invisalign, but some patients with severe problems may require orthodontic treatment. If your dentist recommends Invisalign, they will form a treatment plan and get to work creating your aligners.

What to expect from treatment

Once your treatment program is created, your dentist will give you a series of aligner trays that you’ll need to wear for at least 22 hours a day. You can remove the trays while you eat or brush and floss your teeth each day, as well as intimate moments. Each tray will take about two weeks to move your teeth and jaw into position steadily. During your treatment, you’ll return to the office every six weeks to evaluate your progress and adjust your treatment aligners as needed.

Once your treatment is completed, your dentist will provide you with a retainer and instruct you on how often you need to wear it. As your jaw adjusts to the new positioning, you won’t need to wear your retainer as often, and eventually, your teeth will be able to maintain their position without the help of the retainer.
