Dr. Sara Shahi is incredibly passionate about the field of Pediatric Dentistry. She endeavors to positively impact her patient’s health, well-being, and happiness. Her practice philosophy goes beyond just looking for cavities. By treating the patient as a whole and exploring the oral systemic connection, Dr. Sara goes above and beyond to engage her patients to believe that “Healthy Smile, Healthy You!”
Dr. Shahi applies a minimally invasive approach to treatments and believes prevention is key. All this while helping children develop great attitudes towards their health and loving their visits with the dentist.
Education
Dr. Shahi received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University and Postgraduate Pediatric Dentistry training at a Columbia University-based residency program. In addition to her medical Doctorates, Dr. Sara holds bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an English Literature BA from Tehran University.
Dr. Shahi is a Diplomate of The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (A.B.P.D) and has been certified by the Integrative Biological Dental Medicine (I.B.D.M.) and Naturopathic Medicine (N.M.D.) Boards. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, New York County Dental Society and The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology; she is also a certified Invisalign provider.
Dr. Shahi was inspired to help people through medicine by her mother and father, each an accomplished “Dr. Shahi” in their respective fields. They showed her starting at a young age how impactful and satisfying a life helping patients can be.
Outside the Practice
When not practicing Dentistry, or traveling to learn about the latest innovations in the field, Dr. Shahi is most often found near her apartment enjoying a good stretch at a Pilates session, reading everything from the latest dental literature to the Sunday Comics with one of the city’s great coffees, or exploring (and occasionally indulging in) NYC’s unique and amazing art scene.
